About Us

Nokemstif (Knock- 'Em Stiff) is a martial arts school based in Pueblo, CO & was established in 2023 by a local family who believes in the disciplines of traditional martial arts, the lifestyle & responsibilities that come with it.

With a focus on self & environmental awareness, Nokemstif teaches traditional martial arts for modern times. By using real world applications, disciplined techniques designed for anyone with a willingness to learn, our core values instill a sense of higher purpose, confidence & self-reliance; as well as emotional, physical & spiritual strength.

We truly believe that strength & unity in body, mind & spirit is the key to living a healthy, happy, balanced lifestyle. With a Catholic / Christian background incorporating our love for purpose & for others, we hope to share, learn & connect with you.

Our organization wishes to meet the needs of our community members by providing them with a safe, encouraging environment, along with dedicated, experienced instructors that can help them accomplish this healthy lifestyle, & personal goals for individual betterment.

Our instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to every class. John Brodie, with over 20 years of teaching experience, & Shadae Brodie, a specialist in both martial arts & holistic health, lead our team of dedicated instructors. Their passion for martial arts & commitment to helping students grow sets them apart.

John Brodie began his martial arts career in Colorado in 1973. He has developed & perfected his craft over the years & began teaching in the Pueblo area in 2000. Specializing in traditional hard styles, soft styles, Western boxing & modern freestyle applications, John’s philosophy & ability to breakdown fundamentals & connect to others at different age levels, life journeys & health goals surpass any teacher or instructor in the field today.

Shadae Brodie is the second daughter of John Brodie & learned in childhood, the benefits of martial arts. Coordination, agility & endurance were the building blocks that began her career as a full-time athlete in 2008. A state qualifying basketball & volleyball player, long distance track runner & nationally ranked individual / relay swimmer, she graduated in 2012 & continued to pursue martial arts. While currently learning herbal / holistic medicine, foraging, & working towards obtaining her yoga teacher certification, Shadae hopes to bring everything she has learned as an athlete, herbalist & yoga practitioner to help balance and enhance the lives of martial arts students.
